Getting started
Start by preparing your content in the panel and checking what the congregation will see.
- Choose where to use Zion Presenter.
Open the web app with your account, or download the app for Windows or macOS from Downloads. On Windows it is also available from the Microsoft Store.
- Get to know the panel with the demo.
In the guest room you can practice without signing in. “Actual size” shows the panel at the width of your window. Changes there are temporary.
- Get your songs, verses and files ready.
Add the content you will use and put the service plan in order. One click on an item in the plan cues it; a double-click projects it.
- Check the display and the stage display.
Check the display output before the service and, if you need it, open the stage display for the team. Test on the screens you will actually use.
The demo is for learning the panel and the display. It doesn’t include the phone remote, external displays or physical screens; network connections and OBS are tested with your own installation.
The panel
The menu switches your workspace; the monitor on the right shows what is already on screen.
- Open the section you need.
Under Content you’ll find Songs, Bible, Sermon, Announcements, Presentations, Media and Backgrounds, and under Outputs, Open display, Displays and Stage display. Settings, with its own list of preferences, Help and Donate sit at the bottom.
- Know the difference between cueing and projecting.
Selecting a file in Media shows its preview; “Project” sends it to the screen. In Songs and Bible, clicking a verse projects it. In the service plan, a single click only cues the item.
- Check the status bar.
It shows the output status, the network connection, the display and the time. From there you can open Search, Rehearsal, the Timer and stage messages, and see how long the service has been running; when the carousel or the waiting screen is running, its controls appear there too.
- Find the team tools.
Open display opens the output in a window. The phone remote is connected from Displays, and stage messages are sent from their section or from the button in the status bar. Help brings together the instructions, shortcuts, resources and contact details.
- Open your account when you need it.
The button with your name or avatar opens your account options and Sign out. Settings holds your presentation preferences.
The “On screen” monitor
Keep an eye on the current output while you prepare content in another section.
- See what’s on screen and what comes next.
“On screen” keeps showing what is projected even when you switch sections. Its shape follows the aspect ratio chosen in Displays. In Sermon Mode it can show a preview of a message that isn’t on air yet; look for the “Preview” label before you send it. The “Next” thumbnail follows the sequence of what is projected, and the ◀ ▶ arrows below it move that content from any section.
- Open the controls from the monitor.
Click it to open the passage, song, design or file controls for what is on screen. For PDFs, images and videos, go back to their section to use their controls.
- Fix text that’s on screen.
For supported text content, double-click the text in the monitor. Confirm with Enter or by clicking outside; Escape cancels. A quick fix to a song or a Bible verse doesn’t change the saved original.
- Use the output layers.
“Clear text” removes the text, “Clear media” removes the projected media and “Blackout” covers the output. “Logo” appears once a logo is set up. The next thing you project lifts the blackout.
- Adjust the monitor view.
“Hide monitor” makes the view smaller. In Settings → Monitor you can turn on “Play video in the monitor” and “Show transitions in the monitor.”
- Try text settings without projecting.
In Settings, when you change the font, shadow, margins or background and nothing is on air, the monitor shows sample text with those settings. It’s marked “Off air,” and no screen receives it. When you change the transition, its speed or the word animation, the text leaves and comes back in so you can see it; “Test,” in the monitor’s header, plays it again. As soon as you project something, the monitor goes back to the output. With lyrics or a verse on screen you can also test the transition: that text plays in again in the monitor, and the screen in the room doesn’t change.
Cueing an item from the service plan keeps the current output on screen. “Next” in the monitor and “Next” in the plan do different things.
Service plan
Plan the order of the service below the monitor, with a separate plan for each service.
- Choose the service.
Open the selector with the service name and time, such as “Wednesday · 19:30.” You can prepare another service without changing what is on screen. “Edit services…” opens their names, days and times, which are shared with Announcements.
- Add content from its section.
Use + on songs, verses, announcements, Media cards and Presentations pages, or drag them into the plan. The + on a PDF page adds the whole document; when you project it, it starts on the first page.
- Include the sermon and the waiting screen.
Sermon Mode and Announcements each have a + to add them. You’ll also find them under “More options.” The sermon item uses whatever is currently prepared on that device. The waiting screen uses the service time of the plan.
- Fill in the order and the cues.
Drag rows to reorder them. “+ Separator” adds a moment such as Prayer or Offering. “Note” saves a cue for the operator. For each song you can choose the key for that service.
- Cue and project at the right moment.
One click opens an item without projecting it; a double-click projects it. For the waiting screen, one click opens its settings and a double-click starts it right away. “Next” and ⌘/Ctrl + ↓ open the next item without sending it to the display.
- Remove only what you don’t need.
“Remove” takes the row out of the plan and can be undone. “Clear this plan” acts on the selected service. Removing a row doesn’t delete the song, announcement or file from its library.
Your account syncs the plan and its references. PDFs and Media files stay on each device: if one is missing, the row tells you. With no services set up, a “General list” is used; to start the waiting screen from it, set up a service with a start time.
Songs
Prepare the lyrics, their sections and the key the musicians will play in.
- Find or create the song.
Search by title or lyrics and use the Tag and Key filters. “New song” opens the editor; the library actions let you add, edit or delete songs.
- Type the lyrics in the editor.
Fill in the title and, if you need them, “Singer / worship leader,” key, tempo and tags. “Author” records who wrote the song, separately from its leader. A blank line starts a new slide. The previews show how the lyrics will be laid out.
- Split long verses.
“Lines per screen” divides a verse into even parts. Settings → Songs has the general setting. The numbering shows the verse and, when it applies, the part.
- Save and test the projection.
Save from the editor or press ⌘/Ctrl + Enter. In the panel, click a verse to project it; the arrow keys or Page Down/Page Up move through its parts.
- Set up the chords.
Turn on “Show chords.” You can paste chords above the lyrics or write them inline as
[G]. Transpose with −/+/Original and choose C D E or Do Re Mi notation. The congregation sees the lyrics without chords. - Bring in your songs from another app.
Open “Switching from another app? Import my songs.” Choose the source and review the songs before importing. Zion reads EasyWorship, ProPresenter 4–7, OpenLP/OpenLyrics, OpenSong, ChordPro, Holyrics and plain text files, depending on the format you choose. The Switching from another app? page explains what to export from each one.
The key in the service plan belongs to that service. You can keep the song’s original key and set a different one for a particular service.
Bible
Find a passage, cue the verse and choose the version you want to project.
- Choose the version and the passage.
Pick an available version and open the book, chapter and verse. You can also type a reference such as
John 3:16orMatt 5.9in the search box, or search for words in the text. - Project the verse.
Click its row. The arrow keys and Page Down/Page Up move forward or back. The monitor shows the current verse and the one that follows.
- Add it to the service or go back through your history.
The + on each verse adds it to the service plan. History takes you back to passages you’ve already used.
- Compare two versions.
Turn on Dual and choose the two versions you want to work with. Check the result in the monitor before projecting. The Deuterocanonical books are browsed by book, chapter and verse; Dual and search aren’t available in that version.
- Add a Bible from a file.
In Settings → Bible, use “Add Bible from file.” The importer accepts e-Sword, MySword, MyBible, OpenSong, Zefania, OSIS, USFX, Beblia and Zion JSON/JS files, as well as compatible ZIP/GZ archives. Protected modules can’t be imported. Check the result before using it in a service.
Imported Bibles stay on this device. Some versions name books or number verses differently; check the passage if you open a saved reference with another Bible.
Announcements
Create announcements from templates and set up the carousel or the waiting screen before the service.
- Create an announcement.
Click “+ New announcement” and choose a template: Welcome, Events, Messages, Giving and social, or Seasonal. Fill in the details and check the preview.
- Edit and project the design.
Select the announcement to change its fields. “Open full editor” opens the design editor. “Duplicate” makes a copy for another announcement; “Project” sends the selected one to the screen.
- Set up the carousel.
Drag the announcements into order and set a general duration or one for each announcement. “Carousel” starts the rotation, and its controls stop it. Projecting other content, Blackout or Logo also stops it.
- Set up your services.
From “Today’s service,” set the name, day and time. You can choose which services an announcement belongs to, or leave it as “Manual only” so it stays out of the automatic rotation.
- Start the waiting screen.
“Waiting” opens the start time, the corner, the final minutes and the opening announcement. While it runs, announcements rotate with a countdown; the final minutes can show the countdown full screen, and at the start time the chosen announcement comes up.
- Add announcements or the waiting screen to the plan.
Use the + on each announcement or the + next to Waiting. In the service plan, double-clicking Waiting starts it right away with that plan’s service time.
You start the waiting screen yourself, and it stops when you project other content. Announcements and designs sync with your account; a video from another device may need its local file.
Presentations
Load a document and move through its pages from the Slides section.
- Prepare the file for your platform.
On the web, upload a PDF or images; “Show me how” explains how to export PowerPoint or Keynote to PDF. On Windows and macOS you can drop in a PowerPoint file directly: Zion converts it on your computer with a compatible app. If no converter is installed, “View options” offers to download LibreOffice.
- Review the pages.
Click a thumbnail to project it. The arrow keys, Page Down/Page Up and the space bar move through the selected document. Each image imported on its own becomes a one-page document.
- Choose the framing.
Open the fit button in the header. “Fit” shows the whole page, with bars if needed; “Crop” fills the screen without distortion; “Stretch” pulls it to the edges. When cropping, move the focal point in the preview and check the sharpness warning.
- Read the speaker notes.
When an imported presentation includes notes, they appear below the slide in the panel. Supported embedded videos are added to Media so you can project them from there; notes are never shown to the congregation.
- Add the document to the service.
The + on any page adds the whole document. One click on its row cues the first page; a double-click projects it. The arrow keys keep moving through that document.
- Keep your library.
“Save” keeps the slides on this device. “Clear” empties the library; it doesn’t move on to the next item in the service.
Documents and their videos need to be on the computer that will project them. Conversion produces still slides: check the result and prepare any videos separately.
Sermon Mode
Prepare the sermon design, its references and the team’s private cues.
- Set up the parts of the sermon.
The Elements list shows or hides the title, points, name, role and references. Under “References and role,” fill in Role, Last reference and Main reference.
- Write the private cues.
“Stage display · team only” holds Current point, Next point, Stage note and Operator notes. That content is for the team; it isn’t what the congregation sees.
- Choose the scene and the output.
The Sermon, Verse and Slides controls switch the scene. “Display in Sermon mode” turns this mode on for the output. Freeze holds the current state and Blackout covers this mode’s output.
- Open the design editor.
Click the monitor or use “Edit design” / “Design presentation” to choose a template, add elements and adjust layers. Aspect ratio and resolution are set in Displays; the editor’s “Canvas” line shows the current size. Sermon points are recognized by prefixes such as
1-,2-and3-. - Publish your changes.
“Publish” or ⌘/Ctrl + S saves and sends without closing the editor. If you close with unpublished changes, you can publish and close, close without publishing, or keep editing. “Live” lets your edits show on screen as you work.
- Add the sermon to the service.
The + next to the controls adds the sermon to the plan. To find a passage, type a reference or choose a book and chapter; once the verses are open, you can go back to the book from the header. One click opens what’s prepared without projecting it; a double-click puts it on screen. It uses the content currently on that device.
The Sermon and Verse scenes each have their own design. To keep an edit ready without sending it yet, work with “Live” turned off and publish when the time comes.
Media
Select and check images or videos before sending them to the screen.
- Add your files.
Click “+ Add files” or drag JPG, PNG, WebP, MP4 or WebM files into the library. Use the search box and the All, Images and Videos filters to find them.
- Check the preview.
Selecting a card cues the file. Check its name, availability and framing. The fit options are Fit, Crop and Stretch; with Crop you can move the focal point in the preview. For videos you can choose loop and audio before projecting.
- Choose the output and project.
Use Local display or Network display, depending on your setup. “Project” sends the file. The video controls let you pause, resume and scrub through playback.
- Add it to the service.
The + on the card, or dragging it into the service plan, saves a reference to it. One click on the row cues it; a double-click projects it.
- Manage the library.
“Delete from library” removes the selected file after you confirm. Removing its row from the service only changes the order.
Files larger than 50 MB may only be available for this session. Before the service, make sure every file is available on the computer and test the audio on the output you will use.
Backgrounds
Set the visual backdrop for Presenter and for Sermon Mode.
- Choose a library.
Open Zion Media, This device, Pixabay or Unsplash. Pixabay offers photos and videos, quick searches, and format and length filters. Use the Images and Videos filters and the search box to find what you need.
- Check the target.
PRESENTER applies the background to lyrics and verses; ZION CAST applies it to Sermon Mode. Select the target that matches what you’re going to use.
- Apply it and check the result.
Open the preview and apply it to the chosen target. A Pixabay file is saved to This device with its credit and then works offline; you can also save it before applying it. Check the text contrast and the motion on the display, especially if the background is a video.
- Remove the background if needed.
Use the remove background action and check the output again. The controls for clearing text or media are on the monitor.
Files under This device depend on what’s stored on that computer. Online searches need a connection. Unsplash serves the image from its own site; check that it loads before a service without internet.
Displays
Set the projection format and check each connected output.
- Open Displays from the sidebar.
Under Projection, choose 16:9, 16:10, 4:3, 21:9, 9:16 or Other, and then the resolution. The aspect ratio travels with your account; the resolution is saved on this device. The Sermon and Announcements editors follow that size.
- Open the congregation’s output.
Under Link and monitor, copy your room’s display address. In the desktop app you can pick a screen with “Open on a monitor.” From a browser, open the link on the right screen and switch to full screen.
- Connect a network screen or OBS.
Choose Network name or IP address, depending on your connection. In the desktop app, links point to the server on your computer; on the web they use the domain. For OBS, add the projection link the app gives you as a browser source.
- Tell your screens apart.
Connected displays lists each display’s name, size and status. “Identify” shows which one it is, “Rename” helps you recognize it and “Use its size” takes its dimensions. Check whether it’s running in a window before you adopt that size.
- Adjust margins and designs.
The safe margin is set per screen, from 0 to 10 %, with a guide while you change it. If an output has a different aspect ratio, the design adapts to its size; “Customize…” lets you fine-tune that format. Pay special attention to a vertical screen or an LED strip.
- Check the real output.
Check lyrics, images, framing and audio on the projector, TV or OBS source you will use. “Forget” removes a screen from the list; it doesn’t change its physical connection.
The resolution you choose in Zion doesn’t change the physical resolution of the projector or TV. The demo only offers its test screen; external links and monitors are available in the full app.
Stage display
Set up the team’s private screen from its own section.
- Open Stage display from the sidebar.
The page brings together the designs, aspect ratio, resolution, link and messages. On the right it shows the live stage display with the design in use.
- Choose the design.
Click “Use” on the design you want. You can create one from Musicians, Preacher or Technician, or keep Classic. Each screen can pick a different design from its own corner; that choice stays on that device.
- Edit what the team will see.
The editor groups blocks by Song, Bible, Sermon and Other content. Set up lyrics with chords, key, current content, next item, time, timer, notes and messages. The design changes with whatever is on air. “Live” lets you check changes while you edit.
- Set its format and connection.
Choose one aspect ratio for all stage display designs, and its resolution. The aspect ratio travels with the designs; the resolution stays on this device. Copy its link for the stage device, or use “Open on a monitor” in the desktop app.
- Send a private message.
Use the quick messages or type a cue, with Regular or Urgent priority. Choose Until cleared, 8, 15 or 30 seconds. Quick messages can be edited and also appear on the phone remote.
- Support the service.
During a song, the team can see its chords and the next song. In Sermon Mode, fill in Current point, Next point and Stage note from that mode. The service clock starts with the first real projection; a rehearsal doesn’t start it.
Designs sync with your account. The design in use and each screen’s choice stay on their device. The stage display link is for the team who will see the private cues.
Phone remote
Use your phone to control a room that’s already set up.
- Open the phone remote from Displays.
In the Phone remote group, “Show code” shows its QR code and link. You can also find it with quick search.
- Connect the phone.
Scan the QR code or open the link the panel shows. For a local connection, the phone must be able to reach the computer over the network; check that the right room opens.
- Do a test run before the service.
Check Next, Previous, Clear and Choose a verse, plus the Sermon slides when they’re available. Check the result on the monitor or the display. Have the files and the order ready from the main panel.
For a full walkthrough of the remote, see the phone remote guide.
Back to the top of the guideHoly Glass
Use a blurred layer to give text more contrast against the background. It’s hidden on PDF and Media outputs.
- Turn it on in Settings → Color and background.
Check the result with a song or a verse over the background you’re going to use.
- Adjust the look.
On the same page, set the darkness and the blur. Make sure the text stays readable on the real screen.
- Turn it off if you need a different look.
Turn off “Show the text panel” and compare the output without the layer.
Timer
Run a duration or count down to a set time from the panel’s status bar.
- Open the Timer.
Click its button in the status bar. Choose Countdown, Until a time or Stopwatch.
- Set the time.
Type the duration or the time, or use the quick presets. The ±1 min buttons adjust a countdown you’ve set up.
- Start it and control it.
Use Start, Pause and Reset, depending on the mode. “Until a time” follows the clock and can’t be paused. Reset leaves the timer ready; start it again when it’s time.
- Decide who sees it.
“Show timer on the display” adds the timer to the congregation’s output. Under “Display appearance” you can set how it looks. The stage display shows the team’s time; check both outputs to confirm which one is active.
The countdown in an announcement design and the sermon time have their own controls. If a timer or the sermon time is running, it takes priority on the stage display’s Timer card.
Settings
Settings has its own list and search box to help you find each preference.
- Choose a page from the list.
Open Settings from the sidebar: the list groups the pages by topic (General, Screen, Content, Control and Data), and the search box finds any option. “Back” returns to the app menu. Aspect ratio and resolution are set in Displays; the team’s designs and messages, in Stage display.
- Fit the panel to your computer.
Under General, choose the language, which is saved to your account and matches the website on all your devices, and the section the panel opens on. Under Appearance, set the size to 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 125, 140 or 150 %. The two largest need a wide window: if the whole panel won’t fit, they’re grayed out and tell you the size they need. You can choose Cobalt, Teal, Graphite, Pink or Violet and turn on “Reduce transparency.” Size and color are saved on this device; the app uses dark mode.
- Adjust the text on screen.
Text covers the font, bold, capitals, automatic and maximum size, margins and line spacing. Color and background covers the text color, shadow, background and Holy Glass; Motion, the transition and how the text comes in.
- Set up Songs and Bible.
Songs splits long verses and can show the title and author on the first lyrics screen, and copyright on the last. Both options start turned off. Enter your church’s CCLI license here; enter the author, song CCLI number and copyright in its editor. Bible sets how the reference looks (alignment, style and version) and adds Bibles from a file or through API.Bible.
- Set the sermon length.
In Sermon, “Time warning” turns the timer on the panel and on the stage display amber a few minutes before the planned length is up, and keeps it amber if the sermon runs over. It starts turned off: choose the length and how many minutes of warning you want. The setting is saved on this device.
- Announcements and Media have their own settings pages.
In Announcements, set the default carousel timing and the ticker’s position, size and speed. Edit the message and turn it on in the Announcements workspace. Media lets you choose what happens when a video ends, its initial volume and whether to resume from each file’s saved position. These preferences are stored on this device and apply the next time you project a video; each file still has its own audio switch.
- Choose how the monitor previews.
Under Control → Monitor you’ll find “Play video in the monitor” and “Show transitions in the monitor.” Compare the difference in the monitor with the content you’re going to use.
- Fill in your church’s details.
Under Church, set the name and logo used by the designs. Under Account, review your name, email, church and this device’s room, and see what is saved in your account and what stays here. You can open My account, change your password or sign out after confirming. Account is available when you’re signed in; it does not appear in the demo.
- Set up controls and backups.
Control holds Shortcuts and Stream Deck, and Data holds Backup and Reset. Stream Deck and Data are only in the full app.
- Read the confirmation before resetting.
“Delete settings” removes your local and cloud settings and designs; your songs are kept. Save a backup if you may need your previous setup.
The panel’s size and color don’t change what the congregation sees. The demo only keeps your changes for the length of the visit.
Account and cloud
Your account holds the content that can be shared; files on each computer need their own preparation.
- Sign in with the right account.
On the web, sign in from My account; in the desktop apps, use the account options in the panel. Make sure you’re working with the right church.
- Check the synced content.
Your account syncs songs, shared settings, selected Bible versions, the church profile and logo, announcements, service plans, and Sermon and stage display designs. Let the sync finish and check the content when you open it on another device.
- Prepare local files.
Imported Bibles, your own backgrounds, PDFs, Presentations images and Media files stay on each device. The room, the service history, shortcuts, the panel’s size and color, resolutions and API.Bible keys also stay on the device. A plan can reference a file that isn’t on that computer yet; the row tells you.
- Sign out from your account.
Open the menu with your avatar or name and choose “Sign out” when you’re done, especially on shared computers.
The demo doesn’t use your account or change its content. Before projecting from another computer, check that the files and their designs are available in that installation.
Keyboard shortcuts
See the active keys and change actions in Settings → Shortcuts.
- See this device’s shortcuts.
Press ? or the keyboard button in the status bar. The sheet shows each action and its current keys, which may differ from the defaults in this table.
- Change an action.
In Settings → Shortcuts, add or replace its keys. Each action can have up to four combinations. Read the warning if another action already uses a combination or if it’s reserved.
- Know the difference between section and output.
Next and Previous follow the Songs, Bible or Presentations section. The “Next on screen” and “Previous on screen” actions always move the current output, like the buttons below the monitor.
- Restore the original keys.
Use Default for one action or “Restore defaults” for all of them. Check the keys after the change; shortcuts are saved on this device.
| Keys | Action |
|---|---|
| → / ↓ / Page Down · ← / ↑ / Page Up | Next / previous in Songs, Bible and Presentations; in other sections, moves what’s on screen. Sermon Mode has its own actions. |
| B / Esc / F5 | Clear the projected content and keep the background. Blackout has its own action. |
| ⌘/Ctrl + ↓ / ↑ | Cue the next / previous item in the service plan. |
| ⌘/Ctrl + K · ? | Open quick search / show the shortcut sheet. |
| ⌘/Ctrl + + / − / 0 | Zoom the panel in / out / back to 100 %. |
| Space bar in Presentations | Go to the next slide. |
| ↓ / ↑ · Page Down / Page Up · / in Sermon Mode | Next / previous verse; next / previous slide; search the Bible. |
| ⌘/Ctrl + Enter in a song | Save from its editor. |
| ⌘/Ctrl + S in a design | Publish without closing the editor. |
| ⌘/Ctrl + Z / ⇧ + ⌘/Ctrl + Z · ⌘/Ctrl + G | Undo / redo; group elements in the design editor. |
While you’re typing or editing inside a window, its own controls take priority. Escape closes or cancels editing where it applies.
Sharing the plan and history
Give the team the plan you’ve prepared and look back at past services.
- Open the plan you want to share.
Select the service in the service plan and open More options → Share….
- Review the document.
The view brings together the order, keys, BPM and notes. Check the details before copying or printing.
- Prepare the PDF or the text.
“Save as PDF” opens your system’s print dialog: choose to save as PDF. “Copy for WhatsApp” copies the text so you can paste it into your chat. “Share…” appears if your browser supports it.
- Look at the history.
More options → History… shows what was saved by day and service, with the plan and the sequence that was actually projected. Cueing items and rehearsing don’t count as projecting to the congregation.
- Reuse a past service.
Choose an entry and click “Load again” to create a new plan. Check the files and the Sermon content before projecting it.
Sharing the plan doesn’t include full lyrics, PDFs or media files. The history is saved only on this device and isn’t a licensing report on its own.
Rehearsal mode
Run through content in the panel’s monitor while the congregation’s output stays as it is.
- Turn on Rehearsal in the status bar.
Look for the amber indicator before you start your run-through.
- Run through the service.
Project songs, verses, announcements, documents or the sermon to check them in the monitor. External outputs and the musicians view keep showing what was on air.
- Check anything running on its own.
A waiting screen, carousel or timer that’s already running stays on air. Rehearsal doesn’t pause them; check their status before you practice.
- End the rehearsal.
Turn off Rehearsal. The screen keeps what it had; the next thing you project goes out to the congregation. Settings you edited may be applied to the output again: check the monitor before you continue.
Rehearsal doesn’t add projections to the history or start the service clock. You can edit content during the run-through; saved changes are real changes to your library.
Musicians view
Each musician can follow the lyrics and chords on their phone without controlling the projection.
- Open the phone remote connection.
In the connection window you’ll find Musicians next to the phone remote, with its own QR code and link.
- Share the musicians link.
Scan that QR code or open its address on the team’s phones. Use the Musicians link, which is different from the room’s remote.
- Follow the song.
The page shows the whole song with the part on screen highlighted. Outside a song, it shows the next one coming up in the service.
- Adjust the reading on each phone.
Choose lyrics only or with chords, notation, size, key and capo for each song. A musician’s personal changes don’t change the lyrics the congregation sees.
- Check the service order.
The list shows the songs and their keys. In the panel you can see how many musicians are connected.
This view is read-only for the projection: it doesn’t have the phone remote’s buttons. It needs to reach your room’s server and isn’t available in the demo.
API.Bible versions
Add the versions available with your church’s key and save their chapters to use them without internet.
- Open API.Bible versions in Settings → Bible.
Enter your church’s key and click Connect. The key stays only on this device; check the rights and the versions available to that account.
- Add a version.
Filter by Spanish, English or All, search for its name or abbreviation, and add it. It then appears in the Bible and Sermon version selectors.
- Prepare the passage while online.
When you open a chapter, it’s saved on this device for 30 days. References in the service plan and Sermon Mode help you prepare the chapters you need; make sure they’re all available before you go offline.
- Search and compare.
You can search for words and use two versions at once with Dual. A new search, or a chapter that isn’t saved yet, needs internet.
- Check the connection and usage.
The window shows the saved chapters, the rights and this month’s counter. Change key or Disconnect changes what’s available on this device; read the warning before you do it.
These Bibles and their key don’t sync with your Zion account and aren’t in the demo. On another computer you’ll need to set up access and prepare the chapters again.
Stream Deck and Companion
Set up physical buttons with the addresses provided in Settings → Stream Deck.
- Allow control on the panel’s computer.
Turn on “Allow control through web addresses.” In the desktop app, choose whether the controller works on this computer or from another computer on the network.
- Test the address.
Use Test and check the confirmation in the panel. Copy the address for the action you need, such as Next, Blackout or a stage display quick message.
- Follow the steps in the window.
Settings includes the steps for Companion and Stream Deck. Set up a GET request with the address Zion gives you for each button.
- Check the result on the output.
Keep the panel open and test every button before the service. In the desktop app it can work over the local network without internet; on the web both computers need a connection.
- Protect and renew access when needed.
Anyone with the address can control the screen. Don’t show it in public screenshots. “Change address” makes the old one stop working; afterwards, update your controller’s buttons.
The controller and its addresses are set up per device. The demo doesn’t allow this external connection.
Backup
Save what’s on this device to a file, and review what to restore before you replace anything.
- Open Settings → Backup.
“Save a backup” gathers songs, services and plans, announcements and designs, Sermon Mode, the stage display, settings, the church profile and imported Bibles.
- Decide whether to include media.
Check “Include images and videos” if you also need to bring the library files. Click “Save backup” and keep the .zionbackup file somewhere other than this computer if you’ll rely on it as a backup.
- Review a backup before restoring it.
Under “Restore a backup,” click “Choose file….” Zion shows what it contains; check only the parts you want to recover.
- Check what will be replaced.
The parts you choose replace their current content; Bibles and images are added. When you’re signed in, what you restore is also applied to your account and can replace its synced content.
- Go back to the previous state if you need to.
Before restoring, Zion saves a copy of how everything was and keeps the last three on this device, under “Saved automatically before restoring.” After restoring, reload and check the content.
A backup doesn’t carry over your session, room or access keys. The cloud doesn’t replace backing up your local files. This tool is in the full app, not in the demo.
Before the service starts
Do one last check on the computer and the screens you’ll use.
- Check the service and its files.
Review the order, keys, notes and waiting screen time. Open the PDFs and media on the computer that will project them; make sure no references point to missing files.
- Check the connection and the outputs.
Identify the display and check the aspect ratio, framing and readability. Test the video audio and the OBS source if you’ll use them.
- Get the team ready.
Open the stage display and the musicians view where needed. Check messages, chords and the next item.
- Leave Rehearsal to begin.
Make sure Rehearsal is off, that Blackout and Logo are where you expect them, and that the carousel, waiting screen and timer are ready.
- Keep a backup.
Save a backup of your preparation and keep the files you need on the computer that will project.
The screenshots in this guide come from the demo and show the app in Spanish. External connections, accounts and physical screens are tested in the full app.
